HAYFORK, Calif. — Trinity County’s Hayfork Transfer Station at 372 Hayfork Dump Road is listed as open Tuesday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The facility is closed Sundays, Mondays and county-recognized holidays. Residents should check for temporary schedule changes before making the drive.
What the county says the site accepts
The official facility listing includes ordinary household garbage, clean brush, scrap metal, electronic waste, universal waste such as batteries and fluorescent tubes, used motor oil and drained filters, tires and some construction waste. There are important restrictions. Clean brush must generally be no more than four inches in diameter, while wire, piping and certain debris must be cut to roughly four-foot lengths. Concrete is not accepted at Hayfork; the county says concrete disposal is available at its Weaverville transfer location.
Treated wood cannot simply be placed in the regular waste stream. The county warns that chemically treated wood has separate disposal requirements and is not accepted at its ordinary transfer sites. Noxious weeds are also excluded from the clean-brush category.
Before arriving with a full load
Trinity County explains that closing time means the gate closes, not that customers can begin unloading at that time. A vehicle arriving too late to unload safely may be refused entry. Call 530-628-5827 for site questions, or the county solid-waste office at 530-623-1326 for changes, rates and unusual materials. Do not assume every listed item is free to dispose of.
